  Password Protect Directories

You can password protect folders in your account without having to deal with the hassle of .htaccess.

To password protect a directory in your site, log in to CPanel.

From there, click on the button labeled Web Protect listed under "Site Management Tools".

On the next page, a list of all of the folders in your site will appear. Click on the one you wish to protect.

On the next page, there should be a text box labeled "Protected Resource Name".

In that, type what you want to appear on the password prompt that opens up when a user tries to access the directory. Then click on Start.

Now at the bottom of that page, enter a username and password that you wish to use to access the directory and click "Add new user".

You may also add additional users if you wish. If you need more help with password protecting folders, email support@huskerhost.com.
